A herbicide premix powered by Nufarm’s proprietary Duplosan® technology, Scorch EXT was developed in response to the increasing threat of kochia, including biotypes resistant to glyphosate, dicamba, 2,4-D and/or fluroxypyr.

Surveys by the Weed Science Society of America (WSSA) have increasingly identified kochia among the most troublesome weeds of cereal grains, field corn and grain sorghum growers, making kochia control in fallow a critical management requirement.

Research by leading weed scientists such as Dr. Vipan Kumar formerly of Kansas State University and Dr. Lovreet Shergill of Montana State University has verified resistance to glyphosate, dicamba, 2,4-D and/or fluroxypyr in various populations of kochia. Additionally, kochia biotypes resistant to more than one herbicide have grown substantially in recent years.

“The increase of herbicide resistance in kochia makes new options critical to success in fallow production systems,” said Dan Beran, Ph.D., Nufarm Director of Technical Services Ag USA. “Scorch EXT will be an important tool for growers to manage economically important weed populations that are resistant to many other herbicides.”

Scorch EXT features a combination of dichlorprop-p, dicamba and 2,4-D. Dichlorprop-p is an active ingredient historically used in mixtures for brush control that remained unexplored until recently. In the past few years, university and third-party research with Scorch EXT has demonstrated excellent and very consistent control of kochia. Scorch EXT is an ideal option where resistant kochia and other tough-to-control broadleaf weeds are a threat and is now labeled in Kansas and Montana under a 24(c) label.

In Kansas, Scorch EXT is approved for use in fallow or eco-fallow fields to control emerged kochia (including populations resistant to 2,4-D, dicamba, fluroxypyr and herbicides in Groups 2, 5 and 9), Canada thistle, common lambsquarters, palmer amaranth, Russian thistle, tansy mustard and wild mustard

In Montana, Scorch EXT is approved for use in fallow or eco-fallow fields to control emerged Kochia (including populations resistant to 2,4-D, dicamba, fluroxypyr and herbicides in Groups 2, 5 and 9), Canada thistle, common lambsquarters, Russian thistle, tansy mustard and wild mustard

In addition to the 24(c) labels in Kansas and Montana, Scorch EXT is also approved for IVM applications, including general farmstead and non-crop areas including rights-of-way, fence rows and industrial sites. It is currently pending EPA registration for additional crop uses.

Learn more about Scorch EXT Herbicide.

For a complete list of Nufarm products, visit nufarm.com/uscrop.
