New Tool Available to Optimize Disease Management Programs in Turfgrass<\/em><\/p>\n

CALGARY, AB <\/strong>\u2014 Valent Canada, Inc. and Nufarm Agriculture Inc. in conjunction with our U.S. colleagues are pleased to announce today that Pinpoint\u2122 Fungicide has been registered in Canada and the U.S. as a new tool for controlling dollar spot in turfgrass. Pinpoint optimizes disease management programs for golf course superintendents by providing consistent turf quality throughout the season while helping combat dollar spot resistance.<\/p>\n

The active ingredient in Pinpoint is mandestrobin, a new strobilurin (Qol) fungicide that specifically controls dollar spot. Pinpoint is highly effective against dollar spot on turf, and also provides control of brown patch, fairy ring, take-all patch and suppression of rust.<\/p>\n

\u201cPinpoint offers control on a variety of turf diseases but its strength is offering unique and targeted activity against dollar spot,\u201d said Sabrina Bladon<\/em>, Eastern Marketing Manager at Nufarm Agriculture. \u201cPinpoint fits multiple spray programs from early season through late season whenever dollar spot control is needed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Pinpoint, developed by Valent in conjunction with Nufarm, has been under field development with numerous researchers since 2006 in both the U.S. and Canada. When compared to industry standard fungicides in trials, Pinpoint has demonstrated consistent and outstanding performance in controlling dollar spot.<\/p>\n

Pinpoint is labeled for use on turf and lawn sites including: golf courses, lawns and landscape areas around residential, institutional, public, commercial and industrial buildings, parks, recreational areas, athletic fields and sod farms.<\/p>\n

Pinpoint is a member of FRAC Group 11 and is best used preventively in a rotation program. It provides an additional management option for dollar spot and an excellent rotation partner for other classes of chemistry such as SDHI (Spectrum Succinate Dehydrogenase Inhibitors) fungicides, helping to optimize all the tools available in a comprehensive disease resistance management program.<\/p>\n
